With the general elections 2011 coming up real soon, i’m getting all riled up as well.This will be my first time voting and I believe everyone else should make use of this chance to make a change in Singapore. Even my father who is now in his 50s, this is his first time voting! Away with the PAP! They never listen to the woes of the citizens anymore, and they have no accountability whatsoever. Why should we continue paying them millions each year? When I myself will have to wrok for a 100 years before i even make close to what they make annually? Our president who is all but a mute and voiceless figurehead, earns S$11,000 DAILY. Is that right? Is it justified? We have too many ministers and they are all overpaid. The PAP justifies their high salaries by saying that they are not corrupt. But aren’t cabinet ministers expected to be uncorrupted? Why are we paying you so much for what is expected of you?

I know some of my friends are going to vote for the PAP, and i see no sense in talking to them about politics when they can’t even see the shit that is happening in front of their eyes. Inflation, increased car coe and transport prices, sky rocketing property prices, huge influx of foreigners (and i don’t mean tourists), increased population of which godknows how many % is made up of new (aka fake) citizens. With all these increased population, have we seen an increase in properties to accommodate them? Do we really need such a big population on our small island? Everyday i go to work, i take the train from the first stop Pasir Ris and i don’t even have a seat for my 30min train ride into town! We are jam packed like sardines in trains that don’t see an increase in efficiency, speed, service (aircon is shitty sometimes), but the price always increases! What is this?!

I feel like a foreigner in my own country. Also, 900,000 foreign workers are coming to our shores shortly. Fuck that shit. Do we need so many of them? DO you know why no Singaporeans are willing to do those so-called lowly paid jobs? BECAUSE THEY ARE SO LOWLY PAID! No one can survive in SIngapore with such measly wages! Why can’t we follow systems like that in the US & Australia where there is a min. wage for workers that allow the basic needs of everyday living to be met, with some extra for savings?

I should stop talking about politics, it only gets me angry and riled up and upset.
If it isn’t obvious enough i’m voting for the opposition. “Your votes are secret” MY ASS. Why is there a need for serial numbers then? I wish Singapore will see some change in Parliament after the elections this year. The young, we can make a change, for the better of our own future. Vote wisely everyone!

& I really want to go to the Workers’ Party Rally at Bedok tonight too!
